Direct representation
European legislation allows for declarations for customs regulations to be made as a direct representative. This means that this declaration is effectuated in the name and at the expense of a different party. Direct representation enables the declaring party to appoint an authorised representative, usually the carrier. As such, the party declaring/represented party transfers the right of absence and the relevant provisions in messaging to the representative. The standard authorisation states that the representative carries out all activities relating to the declaration.
