Barge
A barge is a small vessel from/on which goods are transferred on/from a large vessel. The large vessel usually is unable to reach a river or canal. The first lighters were used in the time of the Dutch East India Company vessels, and the word lighter is used in the Lighter Aboard Ship (LASH) vessel type.
