Summer freeboard
The summer freeboard is the distance from the water line to the tonnage deck or main deck of a vessel, when the vessel is loaded up to the summer mark of the load line. In other words, the summer freeboard mark indicates the minimum amount by which a vessel should stick out of the water, or the maximum loading depth of a vessel.
