Congestion in Los Angeles

25 Nov 2021

Due to the record volume of cargo to the US, all ports on both the east and west coasts are experiencing congestion.
Off the coast of Los Angeles, which is the largest port in the USA, about 90 vessels have to wait an average of 20 days before they can dock. The congestion is causing major problems on and around the terminals.
To prevent the accumulation of import containers at the terminals of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the government will impose an emergency surcharge for all import containers that are not collected from the terminal within 8 calendar days after unloading.
