Carriers are implementing a Low Water Surcharge for all cargo shipped to or via Montreal.
Due to the current water level of the St Lawrence river, ships have a limited loading capacity. This means that fewer containers can be loaded on board. Shipping companies compensate for this by introducing a low water surcharge. The port of Montreal is only accessible via this St Lawrence river.
The amount of the surcharge varies per carrier.
Embassy Freight will invoice this surcharge accordingly.
