As of April 1st, the South Sudanese Customs Authority requires an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) for all cargo shipped to, via and from South Sudan.
The shipper or their forwarder should arrange the ECTN in the port of loading.
The unique ECTN number must be mentioned on the Bill of Lading and on the manifest as per BL date April 1st.
Shipments without a valid ECTN number cannot be customs cleared in South Sudan and fines may apply.
An ECTN is also called a waiver. More information about waivers can be found in our online dictionary https://www.embassylogisticterms.com/
