Worldwide space constraints and equipment shortages

9 Nov 2020

In the lead up to the holidays, the challenges in the already tight market are under more pressure still.

An increase in demand is leading to a lack of space on ships and serious equipment shortages. 40’ high cube containers are especially scarce.

These issues are being felt on nearly all trades, both for imports as well as exports. In the meantime certain carriers have seen fit to implement Peak Season surcharges.

Westbound on the Asian and Indian sub-continent trades, the space and equipment situation is quite dire, particularly in the Chinese main ports.

From Rotterdam and other North European origin ports, many sailings to the Far East and Middle East are fully booked for the coming weeks. Space to Mexico, Canada and the USA is limited as well.

We urge you to please take this information in to account, and book your shipments as far in advance as possible. As ever we will help you pro-actively find the best option for your shipment.
