Containers (FCL and LCL)

FCL (full container load)

With FCL (full container load) shipments you have an entire container to yourself. It does not matter how full you load the container, since you are the only one using it. No goods from a different owner will be added to your freight.

VGM (Verified Gross Mass)

Carriers need a VGM for each container which will be loaded as of July 1st. No VGM means no shipping. Every shipper needs to determine his method for calculating the VGM (Verified Gross Weight). Download our useful leaflet below which gives an simple overview of the complex regulation.

Container sealed

The container will be delivered to the loading site, where you will have 2 hours to load the container. These hours are included in the price. Once the container has been loaded, it is sealed in your presence. This way you are ensured that the container will remain closed until the rightful owner opens it.

Dimensions of containers

To know which type of container you will need for your shipment, you can view the detailed information about our containers. Should you still have trouble deciding, we would of course be happy to help you.

LCL (less than container load)

If you do not wish to use an entire container for your shipment, an LCL shipment might be the perfect solution. For an LCL (Less than Container Load) shipment, the goods of various parties are collected in one container.

Paying for space used

Multiple LCL shipments with different BLs and different owners can be loaded into a single container. Each party pays for the container space used. LCL shipments are charged based on Weight/Measurement (W/M), so you pay per tonne or per cubic metre.

Measure/weight

Measure/weight was created as a way to overcome the difference between volume (measurement) and weight. After all, one cubic metre of lead weighs a lot more than a cubic metre of feathers. To facilitate a fair system of shipping rates, certain conversion rates were developed. For LCL sea freight, it is agreed that 1 cubic metre equals 1,000 kilogrammes.
