Low Water Surcharge Montreal 2019

Canada LWS

2 Jan 2019

As per January 1st, carriers are implementing a Low Water Surcharge for all cargo shipped to or via Montreal.

Due to the current water level of the St Lawrence river, ships have a limited loading capacity. This means that fewer containers can be loaded on board. Shipping companies compensate for this by introducing a low water surcharge. The port of Montreal is only accessible via this St Lawrence river.
The amount of the surcharge varies per carrier.

Embassy Freight will invoice this surcharge accordingly. This concerns both FCL and LCL shipments.
